About: She Is The Music are partnering with The Blackbird Academy in Nashville, a post-secondary educational institution that specializes in Studio Engineering and Live Sound Engineering, to deploy FOUR full tuition scholarships for Blackbird’s six-month course.
The scheme also offers a grant which will help to cover the living expenses (housing, transportation, and meals) for each of the four scholarship recipients.
Facilitated through The Recording Academy's producers and engineers wing, this partnership between Blackbird Academy and She Is The Music aims to encourage more women to consider careers in the male dominated sector of music production and live sound.

Sound Practice Cohort 3 - Black Music Creator’s Fund
Deadline: June 14th
Open To: Black folx who identify as women, non-binary, GNC, or trans music creators
About: An immersive 7-week course aimed at helping you to break out of musical monoculture, find your sonic signature and tell your unique story through your music.
Unlike other beat-making courses that are focused primarily on technical skill, SOUND PRACTICE supports participants to grow through a group experience that culminates in each student creating an EP based on the following skill sets:
- Step into a global music community
- Expand your ear: listen FOR vs. listen TO
- Find your voice and telling your story
- Tap into healthy creative habits to overcome blocks
- Learn musical lineages and responsible participation
- Grow into a collaborative vs. competitive process
The Black Music Creator’s fund was started to acknowledge the labor, creativity and brilliance of Black music makers, whose work is too often extracted and not given it’s due recognition. The fund refelects the founder's commitment to building a community that is equitable and balanced in its representation of all people. Part of that is also about shifting the narrative away from music production as a “boy’s club”. For that reason, for the third cohort of Sound Practice, I’m partnering with In Session to open up 5 scholarship seats for Black Music Creators who identify as women, non-binary or trans folx.
