Gareth Cox is a multi-talented artist and music teacher who focuses on both music production and teaching live drums, with a deep understanding of music theory running through all of his lessons.
Best known as a music producer, Gareth Cox has been producing electronic music since the age of 11. He earned his industry stripes working as a Pro Tools engineer with the “Lo-Fidelity Allstars” in Brighton. Now a recording artist in his own right, Gareth has DJ’d and performed live around Europe with his own productions, mostly drawing influence from the techno, dub, and IDM genres.
He has released music on various labels, from Jalapeño Records, Furthur Electronix, and BECAUSE Music, had number 1 ranked mixes on Mixcloud, and appeared in the ‘Secret 13’ Art Journal.
Gareth also has a background in playing and teaching live drumming and offers one-on-one drum lessons all over London and in Leicester.
HOURLY RATE: £25-35 + 50% studio fee (if applicable)
TEACHING: Online and In-person
PREFERRED LOCATIONS: Pirate Leicester, Pirate London (Camden, Dalston, Greenwich, Hackney)
LEVELS: Beginner to Intermediate

ABOUT THE LESSON
Gareth will begin by understanding each client's needs and expected outcomes (if any). Gauging their current ability and skill sets and how many sessions they may want, he’ll then start setting objectives for each of the lessons to help reach their suggested outcome.
Gareth takes a dynamic approach to teaching, asking his students to try things out and look for their own solutions before offering suggestions, alternate methods, or improvements. If desired, Gareth can cover music theory applicable to the client’s chosen genre and encourage them to explore compositional strategies. Often towards the final session, he likes to have the client delve further into their own idiosyncrasies, getting them to think about their own unique sonic character and how to build on it.
