On lock

Your Camden studios are situated in the sweet spot between Kentish Town, Camden Road, Cally Road and Tufnell Park, making it the ideal location for some of North London's greatest hits — Camden Lock, The Emirates Stadium, KOKO and plenty more.

If you're in the area there's a bunch of under-the-radar spots to check out, including:

  • Cantelowes Skatepark: easily one of the best outdoor bowls anywhere
  • The Third Estate: eco-friendly clothing for all seasons
  • DNA VR: Virtual Reality arcade with Half-Life: Alyx, no brainer

Getting here and access

The studio address is 23-25 Hampshire Street, London NW5 2TE

The main entrance is on Hampshire Street, with the studio entrance up a short flight of interior stairs. For this reason, we are sorry to inform you that the studios are not fully accessible. However, our two alternative North London locations — Wembley (mostly accessible) and Tottenham (fully accessible) — are.

Coming by public transport? The closest Overground train stations are Camden Road and Caledonian Road & Barnsbury; the closest mainline train stations are Caledonian Road and Kentish Town. It's a 15-minute walk to the studios from all of these. Buses 29, 253, N29, N235 and N279 all stop nearby on Brecknock Road; a five-minute walk away.

Driving or cycling? We do not have dedicated parking spaces for your car or bike, but there's plenty of public spaces on Hampshire Street and in the surrounding neighbourhood.

What is verification and how does it work?

Being verified unlocks extra features at Pirate, like Refer-a-Friend credits. You also need to have your identity verified before you book one of our DJ or recording studios, so it’s a worthwhile investment! Don’t worry, the process only takes two minutes.

TIP: Use your mobile, it's easier to get a clear shot of your face/document.

I'm having trouble with a code or lock — help?

Slow and gentle!  Our locks can be a little sensitive so put your code in slowly and as detailed on your booking — such as * 1 2 3 4 5 6. Don't forget the star!

You might be sent a four-digit code as a replacement for the booking, such as 1 2 3 4.  As above, press slowly and in this case, with no star, *.

If you're having trouble with the lock or code, please contact us and we'll help get you in as soon as possible.

What if something breaks or I need a spare?

Spares in every location! We carry lots of spares in our sites, just in case you need any further equipment or something has a fault.  You'll also find lots of spare cables and mics in our rehearsal studios if needed.

Something missing from the room or you need an item from the Spares cupboard? Hit us up on Live Chat via the website. We will be more than happy to help.

Set up your Pirate.com account

It takes less than two minutes to become a member:

  • Visit the account creation page.
  • Enter your details in each field. If you have a referral code from another Pirate customer, please enter it at this point.
  • Select Join Pirate Studios and we’ll send you an SMS to confirm your mobile number. You’ll need to confirm this number before you can use your account.
  • Confirmed? You’re ready to book.

How do I book a session?

Our live booking calendar shows the latest availability of studios. You can book anywhere from a year in advance right up until a few minutes beforehand. Some studios are popular, so we recommend securing your slot in advance.

TIP: Book enough time to set-up and get comfortable with the gear, and set-up/pack-down anything you’ve brought along.

Can I hire extra equipment?

In the UK you can hire various pieces of equipment for your booking. Some gear is chargeable — we've outlined how to hire and costs below. In the US, DE and IE, our studios come fully equipped.

How to hire extra equipment

  • Make a booking (or if part of a band or group, find out the booking details from the account holder)
  • Note the location, studio number, date and time of your booking
  • Fill out the form here
  • If your item is chargeable, we'll automatically charge the card used to make the booking
  • We'll text you/the account holder with confirmation of the hire and the codes to access the Spares cupboard
  • If the item is unavailable, we'll let you know via text and let you know when it's next available
