The Great Escape returns in 2024, bringing emerging artists from around the world to Brighton. The festival will take over more than 35 venues in the seaside city from May 15-18, with more than 450 acts set to perform.

The first-ever Pirate Studios stage at The Great Escape will open on Thursday, May 16, at The Great Escape Beach, programming two days of music, including highlight sets from JayaHadADream, Phoebe Hall, BXKS, Kaisha, and more.

Thursday, May 16th

bshp

Set time: 2:30 PM, Thursday, May 16th

Powerhouse vocalist bshp’s R&B and soul-influenced pop music has already earned radio support from the likes of Maya Jama, DJ Target, Twin B, Rebecca Judd, and Manny Norte since her debut single under this moniker in 2020. Despite impressive streaming numbers, this will be the first opportunity for fans to experience bshp live on a festival stage, but definitely not the last.

BXKS

Set time: 5:30 PM, Thursday, May 16th

Catching the attention of none other than Skepta with an early freestyle in 2018, BXKS has gone from strength to strength in recent years. She released her debut mixtape in 2021 and featured on p-rallel’s debut mixtape, 'Movement,' in 2023, earning further industry acclaim. The Luton MC’s latest offering, 'One Time,' which arrived in March 2024, showcases her sleek lyricism across eight forward-thinking tracks. This is going to go off.

Keeya Keys

Set time: 4:30 PM, Thursday, May 16th

One of the North London rap scene’s most exciting recent alumni, Keeya Keys has been gathering steam since his breakout single in 2020. Influenced by the quintessential sounds of London—grime, drill, hip hop, and afrobeats—his 2023 EP ‘Keys to the City’ marks the latest phase in his sound's evolution.

Kaisha

Set time: 1:30 PM, Thursday, May 16th

Malaysia-born and Brighton-based singer-songwriter Kaisha offers a fresh take on modern R&B, infused with elements of jazz, pop, and soul. A BIMM alumna and Pirate resident, she is fresh off her first headline UK tour in 2023 and is amassing a significant fanbase as she expands her catalogue. Listen up.

Amelia Rose

Set time: 3:30 PM, Thursday, May 16th

Building on the success of her early singles, Amelia Rose’s 2023 debut EP 'Phases' encapsulates the niche she’s carving out for herself in the chilled R&B scene, while simultaneously accumulating impressive production and writing credits for other artists behind the scenes. Take this chance to catch her centre stage.

Jack Page

Set time: 12:30 PM, Thursday, May 16th

2024 Pirate resident Jack Page joins the Great Escape lineup fresh off the release of his 2023 debut album, 'Run Into the Night.' Infused with jazz, soul, and R&B, this record provides the perfect introduction to an artist you haven't heard the last of.

Friday, May 17th

JayaHadADream

Set time: 3:30 PM, Friday, May 17th

The winner of Glastonbury’s 2024 Emerging Talent Competition and one of this year’s Pirate residents, hotly-tipped rapper JayaHadADream is set for another year of milestones. The Nottingham-based artist will also headline the DSCNNCT Festival Carnival Stage, showcasing the best of hip hop in London this summer, with more big-ticket shows yet to be announced. Check out her 'Sounds of the Verse' freestyle for Sir Spyro on 1Xtra if you haven’t already. World domination is imminent.

Gareth Donkin

Set time: 1:30 PM, Friday, May 17th

Enjoy the plush sounds of singer-songwriter Gareth Donkin's R&B, funk, and jazz-infused catalogue as he alternates between pop tunes and soul ballads. The 23-year-old's debut album, 'Welcome Home,' was released to critical acclaim last summer, prompting his first UK tour in 2024. These tracks will stay with you.

ELI

Set time: 2:30 PM, Friday, May 17th

Alternative singer, songwriter, and musician ELI draws from pop, soul, indie, and trip-hop to create truly versatile and inventive music. Her latest EP, 'Full Form,' released in 2024, is characterised by ethereal vocals, inventive beats, and melodic guitar riffs that we can all get behind. Amid widespread critical acclaim, 'Full Form' earned a Record of the Week on BBC Introducing, proving to ELI that doing it her way is working, if she had any doubts.

Phoebe Hall

Alt-pop artist Phoebe Hall's much-anticipated new 'Stop Before It Starts' EP lands this May, following the success of her debut 'Runaway' EP, which was championed on BBC Radio 1 Future Pop (Maia Beth, Mollie King), Radio 1 Introducing (Gemma Bradley), and BBC Introducing York (Jericho Keys), even scoring a BBC Radio 1 Introducing Track of the Week. Martha May & The Mondays

The 7-piece band Martha May & The Mondays started life as the solo project of just one songwriter and performer—Martha McKay. Evolving from folk roots to a fresh take on post-punk, their creative instrumentation and McKay's unwavering vocal range continue to turn more heads with every release. Everybody hates Monday?
