The Heart of East London’s DJ Culture and Nightlife
Where emerging DJs shape the city’s sound, from early warehouse roots to today’s club circuit
East London’s music story runs deep. The area’s industrial belt, from Stratford to Hackney Wick, hosted some of the earliest warehouse parties of the late ’80s and ’90s, alongside pirate radio stations and DIY crews that helped carve out whole genres of UK electronic music. That legacy still pulses through Dalston basements, Wick warehouses, vinyl nights and community radio shows, giving emerging DJs a place to experiment and evolve.
Today, venues like Village Underground, Night Tales, The Jago, Oslo, Grow and Colour Factory keep the scene moving, backed by countless pop-ups and underground collectives pushing new sounds forward. Pirate plugs straight into that energy, giving DJs a home base to sharpen their sound.
