The Heart of South London’s DJ & Electronic Scene

Shaped by local collectives, independent venues and DIY energy

South London’s electronic music scene is built from the ground up. Areas like Croydon, Brixton, Peckham, Deptford, New Cross and Greenwich have long supported DJs through community-led nights, local promoters, pop-ups and spaces that value experimentation, sound and connection over hype.

In Croydon, regular club nights, pop-up events and shared spaces give DJs opportunities to test new material and build confidence in front of real crowds. Across the rest of South London, independent venues such as Corsica Studios, Phonox, Brixton Jamm, Peckham Audio and Venue MOT anchor a wider network of collectives and crews pushing electronic music forward.

Pirate’s South London DJ studios in Croydon, Earlsfield and Greenwich sit within that ecosystem, giving DJs a reliable home base to practise regularly, refine mixes and prepare for gigs, supporting the behind-the-scenes work that keeps South London’s scene moving.

What equipment is included in South London DJ studios?

All South London DJ rooms are fitted with industry-standard Pioneer DJ equipment, including CDJs, a professional mixer, calibrated speakers, and a simple plug-and-play setup. Equipment varies slightly between Standard and Pro rooms, but every studio is designed to feel club-ready.

What’s the difference between DJ Standard and DJ Pro studios?

DJ Standard rooms feature a two-deck setup and are ideal for practice, learning, and refining mixes.
DJ Pro rooms include an extra third deck and more space, making them better suited for recording mixes, advanced techniques, and gig preparation. DJ Pro studios are available in Earlsfield and Greenwich.

What to consider on your first visit as a beginner DJ?

Remember to bring your own headphones and a USB or laptop. Check out our how to DJ guide for a smooth start, and consider booking private DJ lessons in our New York studios or online. Curious about our DJ rooms and equipment but not quite ready to book? Come down to our monthly open decks night in NYC.

Do I need to bring my own headphones or equipment?

Croydon, Greenwich and Earlsfield are three key creative hubs across South London, each with its own energy, and Pirate Studios sits right in the middle of it. Whether you’re recording, rehearsing or shaping your next mix, this is where ideas turn into real projects.

With dozens of rooms across South London, you can drop in for a quick hour or settle in for a full session. Come through, plug in and make something worth sharing.

Local Favourites Across South London

If you’re heading in or out of a session in Croydon, Boxpark Croydon is the obvious default — quick food, familiar faces, and enough noise to ease you back into the city. When you need the opposite, Wandle Park is a solid reset: quiet paths, open space, and a few minutes to clear your head before the next booking.

Around Greenwich, Greenwich Market is an easy in-and-out for street food and coffee without losing time, while Greenwich Park gives you space to slow things down — especially useful if you’re coming off a long session and need a breather.

In Earlsfield, most people drift along Earlsfield High Street, cafés, takeaways and low-key pubs that work around evening sessions without trying too hard. If you want something calmer, King George’s Park is close enough for a short walk and far enough from the rush to properly switch off.
