Got a Question?

Here are the questions we get asked the most, answered. If we missed anything, check out the drum rehearsal studio information section in our support hub. Whatsapp is the best way to reach us if you still need help, or give us a call on 0333 241 9598.

How much does a drum practice room cost per hour?

Drum room rental at Pirate varies based on location, time of day and session length. Drum studio rental starts at £10 per hour in the UK, $13 per hour in the US and €7.50 per hour in Europe. Use our live booking calendar to find a drum rehearsal space near you for an exact cost. Simply enter your preferred location, date and time.

Is the drum studio suitable for complete beginners?

Pirate's drum practice rooms cater to beginners, intermediate and advanced drummers. For newcomers, consider booking a drum lesson, or feel free to try it out on your own. Many world-class drummers are self-taught.

How do I book a session?

Our live booking calendar shows the latest availability of studios. You can book anywhere from a year in advance right up until a few minutes beforehand. Some studios are popular, so we recommend securing your slot in advance.

TIP: Book enough time to set-up and get comfortable with the gear, and set-up/pack-down anything you’ve brought along.

Can I hire extra equipment in advance?

Pirate does not offer on-site equipment rental currently. Check the equipment list of your selected drum practice room and bring any additional equipment you need for your session.

What do I need to bring to my first drum session?

If you've booked a rehearsal room at Pirate to play the drums, you must bring your own drumsticks.

For Standard and Standard+ studios, remember to bring your own cymbals.

However, cymbals are already provided in Lite, Pro and Showcase rehearsal studios.

While all Pirate rehearsal studios come equipped with a full 5-piece drum kit, it's recommended to review the kit list for your chosen room before your session.

Do you provide drumsticks?

No, Pirate does not provide drumsticks in any rehearsal studios. Please bring your own drumsticks when booking a drum practice room.

Can I record my session playing drums?

Yes, you can use OpenLIVE to record your drumming session. Look for the OpenLIVE logo when booking a session, enable it during the booking process, and receive a link to edit your recording online after your session. Note that OpenLIVE is not available in all Pirate drum studios.

How do I book OpenLIVE?

Where recording is available, you will see the OpenLIVE logo on the studio image on the booking calendar. When you select Book room, you will be prompted to add OpenLIVE to the session. Once you click Yes, OpenLIVE will be added to the session.

Once you exit the payment process, you’ll receive emails confirming your scheduled recording from OpenLIVE. If you don’t receive your confirmation, please drop us a note via live chat or email and we'll check for you.

What if something breaks or I need a spare?

Spare equipment is available at every Pirate location, including instruments, cables, microphones, stands and other hardware.

If you need replacement equipment or something is missing, contact us on Live Chat via the website or
WhatsApp for assistance. We will direct you to our spares cupboard quickly so that you can get on with your session.

How to start drumming on a budget?

To start learning drums on a budget, rent a drum studio at Pirate for as little as £10/$13/€7.50 per hour. Access free drumming tutorials online or opt for one-on-one private drum lessons to learn the basics.
