ABOUT THE LESSON
During your first lesson with Joel, he will assess your ability and discuss any drumming aspirations and goals. Prepare to talk about your favourite bands and musicians, through which you’ll establish a common understanding of your progression. Homework assignments and your level of commitment to the lessons will be discussed to create an honest starting point.
The lessons are informal and fun, made up of engaging, challenging exercises. You can expect to play along to music, watch demonstrations of various techniques, and enjoy some solo time on the kit. Learning to drum is about more than just practising rudiments and fills; it’s a language that allows you to communicate with other musicians and within your community.
You can work towards live performances, graded exams, or simply spend time learning your favourite songs. No two lessons will be exactly the same, and you can expect to have fun getting there.
